More snow pictures

I have not left the house today but I hear that everyone's been rescued and the streets are clearing.  Maybe I'll go out tomorrow...

Snow was still falling in the previous post so here are some night and next day photos.

Snowpocalypse 2014

...and it is supposed to be 60F in 4 days.

Brief recap:  snow falls in Atlanta and everything shuts down.  My work closed early and I made it home in about 10 minutes.  Others of my friends took 2-7 HOURS to get home and some of them on foot.  The police stopped answering calls to accident sites and only answered calls to accidents with injury.

My plan is usually to go home, de-frost some chili or chicken soup, pop a cork, and watch a movie.  I took Iggy out to introduce him snow and then settled in.

Another inch or 2 of snow follow later, but I was inside staying warm.

Can you spot the Iggy?  He's hiding from the snow...

Glutenfreeville

Not everyone knows this, but I have been on a gluten free experiment for the past 3 months.  It was very challenging at first--I missed fried chicken and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches sooooo bad!  Gradually, I have gotten into the swing of it.  Peanut butter and jelly mixed in a bowl is still delicious.  I just have to remember to bring my own soy sauce for sushi.

The reason I started the experiment is because I had read that some physical traits we think are hereditary are not.  The sensitivity to gluten is what is hereditary.  I decided to find out if my thinning hair and inability to loose the fat below my bellybutton are attached to gluten.  (I know exercise would help the second but one thing at a time.)

So far, the results are inconclusive.  My energy is up and I have better digestion, but ordering food at a restaurant can be challenging and I hate have to say, "Yes, I would love to come over to your house for dinner but can cook something different for me."  I was going to throw in the towel and go eat some chicken until I stopped by the hair salon today.

Daniel is my fantastic, flaming, funny, and fashionable hair stylist.  I scored when I found him on my very first Atlanta haircut.  He is also totally honest, he says that he has no filter.  He exclaimed over how good I look and how much thicker my hair has gotten.  YAY!  He completely changed my mind and I'm continuing for another 3 months.  If Daniel thinks I'm doing something right, I'll keep at it.

That's the gluten news.

PS, Did you know that blue cheese isn't gluten free?!?  The mold used to make it is grown on bread or gluten cultures.  Found that out on the gluten free menu at the Outback.

PPS,  Did you know that the Outback has a gluten free menu?!?  Most corporate chains do nowadays.

Screw You 2013

2013 can easily be described as one of the worst years of my life.  And now it is done.  The fork was stuck in it.  Over.

2014 is going to be all about fixing all the shit that broke in the year-that-shall-not-be-named.

For starters, we found the cause of the leak that flooded my closet/office (after 5 weeks of mysterious puddles and not so mysterious mold).  Tonight is the first night that I am sleeping without a dehumidifier humming along.  Also, I found the piece of plastic that clogged the hose of the vacuum cleaner and caused it to not suck.  Yay for renewal of suckage!!

Three days into 2014 and I am better off already!
