Stupid Neighborhood Thieves

My car got broken into.

Well, technically not broken because I think I forgot to lock the door.

Overnight Saturday/Sunday someone got in my car and rifled through everything.  Even overturning Iggy's bed to see what he might be hiding.  At first I thought only my pepper spray and pocket knife were missing.

And then I remembered the valet key.

I keep it in the armrest and never use it.  It opens the doors and runs the engine but can't get into the trunk.  And it is gone.  My thief could have taken the car at this point but didn't.

I don't know if my thief was very smart or very stupid for not taking the car.  Either he/she didn't know well enough that the key ran the car and just liked the 8-ball key chain.  Or was smart enough to not want the hassle of car theft.

I'm just afraid that he/she will come back.  If stupid, will talk to someone else who says, "I can't believe you were so stupid to not take the car.  Give me the key and I'll go get it."  Or smart, I'll sell the key to someone who wants the hassle.

So I have introduced myself to The Club and am thinking about a secondary alarm system on the car.  And I found this map which is both cool and disturbing.   Crime Map

Snowpocalypse 2014 #2

Icepocalypse?

At least this time everyone stayed home.  I am puzzled as to why the grocery ran out of eggs.  Plenty of milk, bread, bottled water, etc, but no eggs.

We've had 3 things happening all at the same time snow, sleet, and freezing rain.  Snow, yay!, sleet, ok..., freezing rain, nope nope nope nope.  And it is still coming down.  My driveway is an ice field covered in slush.  And so is the road I live on.  I'm just hoping All of Atlanta is just hoping that it doesn't accumulate enough to down power lines and topple trees.  Wish us luck.

I have not left the house today but I hear that everyone's been rescued and the streets are clearing.  Maybe I'll go out tomorrow...

Snowpocalypse 2014

...and it is supposed to be 60F in 4 days.

Brief recap:  snow falls in Atlanta and everything shuts down.  My work closed early and I made it home in about 10 minutes.  Others of my friends took 2-7 HOURS to get home and some of them on foot.  The police stopped answering calls to accident sites and only answered calls to accidents with injury.

My plan is usually to go home, de-frost some chili or chicken soup, pop a cork, and watch a movie.  I took Iggy out to introduce him snow and then settled in.

Another inch or 2 of snow follow later, but I was inside staying warm.
