an old homestead at Keystone

The rain stopped for a short time so Ave and I went for a walk down to an old homestead/ranch about a mile from her house.  Really old log cabins and fields with a mountain backdrop that was shrouded in clouds and snow.  On the way back, we took a mountain bike trail that also took us though where they are logging the now-dead pine beetle trees.  Sad, but it clears the way for new growth and Aspens.
All the grey is trees that need to come down

Town and lake of Dillon

Keystone

Spending a couple nights hanging out with Averil watching clouds over Buffalo Mountain.  Every once in awhile they lift and we can see bright patches of new snow.

Bye bye Utah

So the rain wasn't as bad as predicted but still prevented my detour to Moab.  Routes 12 and 24 through Utah are spectacular--there is a reason it's called a "scenic route".  I loved the varied colors in the rock that are so drastically different and yet right next to each other.

What a way to start the day

Love the colors!!

There is water out here

And then I hit the main highway and the scenery disappeared.

Random corvette hating Porsches driving through CO (I know they were haters because they each supported a bumper sticker saying so).

And a town? pit stop?  I'm sure we can come up with some kind of name...
