Yay! I'll be heading back to my other hometown in November. Thank you so much to Nolan and Tennille for making it happen.
So I was telling Patty all about it, and she asked me, "What do you miss most about SF?" And she got me to thinking...
What do I miss about SF...
-my peeps. I miss you guys so much!
-walking everywhere. And not having to drive home after being out and drinking. But I guess the less drinking could be considered as a good thing.
-my job at Top of the Mark. Walking out with a chunk of cash in my pocket was really, really nice.
-local markets. They just don't exist here. I have to buy all my veggies at the big box store. I miss corner stores.
-the water, ocean and bay. I didn't take enough advantage of just sitting and watching the water.
-food. I loved having so many choices. Burma Superstar, I could write poetry about you. I won't.
-the naked and crazy people. You made my commute to work interesting.
-hopping on and off the cable car.
-noon on Tuesdays.
-Crossroads. Good quality thrift-ish store don't exist here.
-recycling and composting being seen as automatic and necessary.
-the enforced liberalism. I miss the crazy hippies just a little bit.
-Green Apple, poetry could be written about you too.
-green parks everywhere.
-my cleaning lady.
-Pescadero, Sonoma, Pt. Reyes, Hog Island, etc.
-the majesty of the fog.
What I don't miss about SF...
-my Atlanta peeps. I missed you while I was gone.
-parking. We have it, SF doesn't.
-my job at Top of the Mark. What drama! And that uniform!
-the naked and crazy people. Sometimes you made my commute too interesting.
-the tourists on the cable car. The tourists everywhere.
-the enforced liberalism. I do not miss the crazy hippies.
-people everywhere. I can walk around all by myself here.
-all the crazy people taking up all the space in the parks.
-no front lawns and rarely back ones.
-needing a cleaning lady because of roommates.
-the oppressiveness of the fog.
-doing laundry down the street.
Plus, I have a house and a dog and a backyard and family.
Minus, I have to take care of a house and a dog and a backyard and the family. And allergies, I didn't used to have those.
All in all, one year later, I'm happy here and so glad I had those years in SF.
I wouldn't change a thing.
