Bird's nest
Just discovered an active bird's nest in my window box. Nearly #%*@ed my pants when mama bird flew out and nearly into my face. Going to have to make some noise when leaving the house...

Sticks and Stones
As seen on http://xkcd.com, "Sticks and stones might break my bones, but words can make me think I deserved it." Very true and explains so much of childhood.

Pork Pile Driver
Never heard of it? Me neither. But the nice guys at the New York Butcher Shop in Midtown introduced me. I was there to find dinner inspiration and got it handed to me on an aluminum platter--Pork Pile Driver. A butterflied pork tenderloin, stuffed with Italian sausage, and wrapped in bacon. So yummy that I didn't even get a picture!
To round out this feast for 5, sautéed baby zucchini, brussels sprouts hash with bacon and granny smith apples, and a green salad.
Now I go to work for the next week and a half...

A Taste of the Highlands
I got to spend my Saturday eating and drinking for a cause. My friend Pace works with Taste of the Highlands and asked me to volunteer. After an hour and a half of checking IDs, they released me to all I could eat. Yum!!!!
My favorites were the shrimp sliders from Atkins Park, the pork belly from South City Kitchen, and the jalapeño margaritas from Pozole. The tuna poke from Goin' Coastal was definitely in the running. And it was all for the great cause of Children's Health Care.
Getting to see Pace and Miguel was the best part, of course!
I wish I had pictures but the threat of rain had me leave my camera at home.
Ps, Anyone who wants to volunteer with me next year, I'll be going back :)

The 2nd Sunday in May
Happy Mother's Day!
That being said, I think everyone should also read this. Jenny Lawson, aka The Bloggess, is a very funny, weird, and lovely person, inside and out.
